CGMS04 STUDY


Aim: To determine the effectiveness over 24 hours of both Diamicron MR or Amaryl using the Continuous Glucose Monitoring System in well-controlled patients with Type 2 diabetes. Also to determine the prevalence of recognised and unrecognised hypoglycaemia in patients taking either Diamicron MR or Amaryl.
This study is only being conducted at the Sydney Diabetes Clinical Research Unit under the guidance of Dr Greg Fulcher.

Procedure: This is a 31 week study involving eight visits to the clinic.

Inclusion criteria
Male or female aged 50 years or older
Type 2 diabetes
HbA1c level ≤ 7.5%
Currently taking any sulphonylurea medication
Stable dose of oral antidiabetic medication for at least 8 weeks
