"HbA1c"

The HbA1c test can tell you how well your diabetes management is working. A decrease in your HbA1c level is good for your long-term health, but you should keep aiming below 7% to give yourself the best chance of staying healthy.

HbA1c is sometimes called A1C or glycosylated haemoglobin. It is a measure of the degree to which glucose has become attached to a protein in red blood cells (haemoglobin). It gives you an idea of the amount of glucose circulating in your blood over 2-3 months. Your HbA1c result will be given to you as a percentage, like 6%.
